Day 30...I think,

So after so many false starts,  this was to be theeeeeeeee week that it all comes together,  diet I'm talking about here as exercise is getting done OK,  sans skipping of course.  So Monday,  all hyped up,  turns out it's my colleagues birthday, I came back from lunch to find he's bought doughnuts for everyone,  well I didn't want to look rude did I?  Oodles of jam inside,  they're lovely,  it's a desk tradition.  Anyway the biscuits and choc that is always available is to be ignored and I at least won that trial.  Went for a swim last night,  Christ that's boring,  but what ya gonna do.  Then Mandy was out with the kids trick or treating (glorified begging imo) and I didn't have a key to get in,  so stayed in the bar and had one and half pints of stella whilst waiting for them to get home.  fail.  Oh, yeah I almost forgot... I had 2 doughnuts,  but they're so goooooooood.  Client dinner tomorrow night, so that'll be a fail,  and Saturday is picnic in the park.  It's just across from our flat,  bands all day,  Glastonbury it isn't but it's a nice day out,  it'll involve some wine and crap food.  When does it ever end?

Day 25 So self diagnosing as one does these days...

I have an inflamed Plantar Fascia which is the tendon that runs from heel to ball of foot.  I've have problems with this in the long distant past although then it was the arch rather than the heel that was the issue, but I wore orthotic insoles to correct it, and correct it they did.  They are now back in my shoes so hopefully I'll start to see some improvement.  Reading this http://www.podiatrynetwork.com/r_heel_pain.cfm#links  it makes total sense with the pain being worse when I get out of bed or after sitting down for a while. Off to my back street pharmacy today for some nutter bastard anti inflams,  I've never actually asked them if they stock cocaine,  but I wouldn't be surprised if they did.  You have to love Hong Kong sometimes and the blatant side stepping of the rules.

Anyway, assuming this is going to take a while to go away,  I'm just going to really try and focus on the weights and bands, which actually considering how much I've always hated that side of the gym, I don't mind doing at the moment. Floor jumps will be switched for creeps when they pop up, but apart from that will go with the programme for 5 days a week.  Managed 4 days this week, but Monday I was traveling.

Roll on the weekend.....

Day 24 Pistol Squats...remember them?

First time I've done these in a couple of months,  and clearly I'm at the same stage as I was the first time I did them before.  Push ups of a similar standard,  4 x 10...  you're 'avin a laugh.  How far and how quickly I've fallen.  Heel is still fucked,  I have put my orthotic insoles I used to wear back in my footwear to see if it helps.  I'll give it a week before a trip to the quacks.  Truly is a pain in the arse as this no cardio is killing my weight.  I have been on the  stationary bike at the gym quite a lot,  but honestly I think it's a total waste of time,  I'm trying to keep my heart rate below 110-115 level,  but to do that it's minimum resistance and I could keep going for several days.  So the 30-40 mins I'm doing is achieving absolutely nothing.  Oh how I miss my skipping.  Diet is proving a daily challenge.

Day 23 - Tuesday

Well,  what can I say,  yet another week or ruinous behaviour,  I'm going backwards and fast.  MotoGP this weekend in Malaysia,  it was never going to be good diet wise.  I had paddock passes and went to enjoy myself and so I did,  right up to the tragic accident that ended the life of Marco Simoncelli.  Such a crying shame, a great rider,  only 24 yrs old!  Just 2 pictures of many that Mandy took of me with my heroes.

 Valentino Rossi
Marco Simoncelli  R.I.P

This was taken Sunday morning,  so sad who knew!

So, back from Sepang, a little sad, and little motivation, but, we have a short term goal,  3 weeks until Singapore for Mandy's 40th,  and she doesn't want to go fat,  actually, neither do I. So back on the bandwagon, on mission and see if we can't get back to some semblance of diet normality.

Day 18 I knew it wouldn't last.

Went for lunch with my MD yesterday who's out from London,  stumbled back into the office at 4:30 pissed out of my mind.  had a snooze, ate a shit load of chocolate and went home.

So no exercise today, and rubbish for breakfast and lunch, aaaaaaand I'm out for head wetting drinks tonight,  gawd!  I'll pull the ripcord earlyish as tomorrow morning off to KL for motoGP.  Can't wait, am soooo excited. Only our 2nd weekend away from the kids ever,  and the first was just a night in Macau.

PCP starts Tuesday.  where have I heard that before?

Day 16 Well this is weird

I actually went to the pub yesterday lunch after the gym and had a couple of lime sodas,  and didn't have a drink when I got home either!  Diet 100% compliant,  well actually minus 2 egg whites but considering I'm not doing weights, just stationary bike this week to rest my niggles I figured that's not too much of an issue. My back I think will be fine by tomorrow,  heel is giving me no grief ATM but have decided to rest it until next week to give it a little more time,  and ease back into the skipping slowly.

I know the diet is going to go horribly wrong at some point this week but hopefully by next Monday I'll have a clear stretch to knuckle down and get back to something approaching day 90.

In other news,  work is so crap at the moment I actually cleaned out the inside of my little desk kettle this morning,  just for something to do.

Day 15 Monday. It's another false start

So the weekend wasn't great diet wise,  and managed to crick my back a bit to boot.  It's not too bad really,  but conscious of making it worse,  I am just going to cardio bike for a few days.  Mandy and I are off to KL for motoGP this weekend, and buggered if I want to be hobbling around for that.  I also have my MD in town from London this week so drinks will be in order one night,  I blew him out last time he was here during PCP so can't do it again,  also my desk boss has head wetting drinks on Thursday evening,  then Malaysia Friday morning. So being realistic I'm a bit fucked.  I think the best I can hope for it to stay on message with the PCP diet, at least that should arrest any weight gain, but that ain't gonna happen in KL.  Mandy is equally as depressed with how we've slipped,  it's just finding that date to really knuckle down and get back to basics. Next Monday I guess it is.

Day 12 The weight is going up

I'm not doing any cardio,  and am nibbling on shite in between my PCP meals, I actually read though a couple of Patrick's daily emails earlier....  I think I need to reread them all quick sharpish.  HFCS,  I shouldn't be eating that should I?

On the plus side I'm rattling through the exercises daily before work, I could probably do a little more but happy to just get back into the routine, it'll step up in time, am doing a little extra tummy work her n there,  so once my heel is healed and I get back to my rope my inner beauty will be revealed once more.  Talking of revealing my inner beauty, I did a mammoth dump last night,  yet I didn't lose any weight,  unfair but a sign of the place I'm in right now.

I have 2 sickly children at home and one sickly wife,  and it's pissing down,  have a feeling this may not be my best weekend ever!

Day 10 This just isn't the same!

I don't have any blogging mojo,  I'd spend my days thinking of material before,  I'd have a list of topics for future blogs.  Now it's all a bit blah,  I think it's because my audience is limited,  I'm doing this for you Tracey! I don't even have any poo material.

Missing my skipping,  but am working on the basis that if I keep up the rest of the exercise,  even if it's covered by the newly created lard from the past 6 weeks,  it'll still be under there ready to show its face once I've trimmed down a bit.  Really need to focus on the diet,  it's key, especially without the cardio. Truth be told apart from the floor jumps and creeps (well I never liked them) I'm finding the exercises a bit too, not easy per se, but short.  I'm using weights/ropes to get to failure mostly but I feel like I could be doing a bit more.  Having said that it fits nicely into my morning schedule before work so not sweating it.

Off to Malaysia next weekend for the motoGP with Mandy.  Super excited as won an auction for 2 paddock passes for the weekend.  Will I finally be able to meet my hero?  You know how everyone is allowed a famous fuck which doesn't count as cheating?  Mandy's is Colin Firth,  mine is Valentino Rossi.

Day 9 " The lost weekend"

Well that wasn't a good start,  so much so that I'm doing week 4 again,  sans the skipping.  Hip fine, heel not,  this has actually been ongoing for a while so just giving it a proper rest and see how we go.  Fri-Mon was an exercise free, calorific mess for the both of us.  so seeing as week 4 never really saw my best attn, figured I'd just do it again.  Bit like being back at school!

Day 5 OMFG

I don't think it's possible to be more hungover than I am right now! Popped out for a "quick drink" at 5 last night,   was home at 11 so not massively bad,  but fuck me,  I clearly did some damage.  All my PCP food in the fridge is somehow not seeming appealing right now.  To bookazine and the wall of sweets me thinks.  But first a fry up!

I think today will be a rest day,

Day 3 & 4 Bugger...already

So, day off work yesterday,  went and did my skips,  great session,  right up to the point my right hip went.  WTF is that all about?  I'm 41 not 61!  Can only assume it was caused in some way from being skewiff whilst protecting the heel.  Hobbling a bit today from both heel and hip so hung up the rope until both are better.  This time round it's a marathon rather than a sprint so no point in making things worse.  Weight/bands I'm finding,  not exactly nice,  but a nice amount of time. I try and make sure I get to failure for the most part and also keep an eye on the rests between sets which I wasn't doing before. The light is always at the end of the tunnel at the moment so don't feel it's one laborious slog,  I know it'll get harder but right now bring it on.  I'm going to whisper this,  I'm quite liking doing planks,  for some reason they're working, I've no idea why.  did 2 min and 1 min this morning,  both times I could have done longer.  Anyway enough of that mumbo jumbo.

Small PCP fail yesterday,  lunch with the family,  ordered well,  well as well as can be expected, grilled salmon on veg n mash,  creme brulee did somehow slip into the order,  but only as I needed something to go with the wine!  But it was lunch.  Apple and pear for dinner,  honours even?

I learnt today of a bookshop I pretty much pass on the way home that has what's been referred to as a "wall of sweets" All old time UK penny sweets + UK chock and candy bars.  I have to check it out, would be rude not to. The fact I wasn't there when they opened their doors this morning is testament to Patrick.

Day 2 The Real PCP starts here.... as it's been said

Day 30 of the PCP. Amazing how quickly you lose your strength by taking a month off.  My legs are ripped to shreds,  The creeps this morning, I thought my knees were going to explode.  I did however manage to knock out 1 x 2min plank yesterday rather than the suggested 4 x 30 sec so the atrophy has not been uniform.

I also somehow have managed to bruise my heel, well it feels like that anyway. I assume from skipping but I'm 100% on my toes so doesn't really make any sense. Have changed trainers to see if that makes a difference but otherwise I might have to get on a bike instead for a while.

Taka, my colleague mentioned yesterday how for the past month I haven't been parping as much as previously.  That came to a rude and abrupt halt today already.  Welcome back veggies n eggs,  you've been missed.

Bank holiday tomorrow,  I foresee a dietary fail, but don't care.  I've been thinking about how best to manage my indulgences,  I thought about writing myself some coupons that can be used during the month,  say 4 x meals,  4 x pub,  4 x choc bar.  Is this incredibly sad? I'm working on the basis that once I've gone to the chocolate stash in the office I get my Homer head on and nom nom nom, don't know when to stop,  actually I do know when to stop,  I just don't.  Go on mr Creosote.

BTW Mandy is Back doing the same month with me,  so that works.  We both had a shit nights sleep last night trying to sleep without any alcohol running through the veins.  Is that incredibly sad?

Day 1 - Feel like I've been here before!

So,  1 month after finishing PCP proper I've managed to put on 5kg.  That is a pathetic testament to my will power.  I did always know that I wasn't going to maintain the absolute lows but this is shit.  And I've been kidding myself that by having PCP compliant brekkies and lunch that all the other shite somehow is OK.  well my belt has gone straight to the cops and grassed me up for my sins.

So here we are again,  a strict regime,  weighing out my food,  total abstinence from the choc/crisps/cakes in the office,  stop the drinking at home and get back into the gym.

The good news is I'm confident I can loses this weight again pretty quickly,  just weighing out breakfast this morning made me realise how much my portions were reverting to type,  I clearly cant make these decisions well on my own,  so back to the plan.  I will however not get hung up if I go to the pub once a week, and go for dinner with Mandy once a week,  man's gotta have a life.  I'm starting at day 29,  and my initial plan is just 4 weeks as I figure there's little point in making unrealistic plans and goals,  I'll reassess at the end of October to see where we go from there. My hope is 70kg,  that's 4kg from where I am now and the weight I wanted to maintain going forward.

I missed my blogging when we hit day 90,  so glad to get back to that,  and I get to talk about my bodily functions again.
